Whipping the Butt – Rear Axle – Into Shape!

We’re making good progress in the right direction with this axle.  Moser Engineering came through with some replacement axles because the original ones had pitting and scoring 360 degrees around it. 

As you can see in the pic above, the axle has a line around the bearing surface.  This becomes a potential for failure under extreme conditions with the wheel flying off because that pitting could crack right through under tension in a corner. So we chose to spend the money on new axles for security and confidence. 

In the purchase of the axles we also bought 3″ studs. More peace of mind in cornering. Short of putting in a Torsen differential, this axle is going to be ready to go.  Stay tuned to the YouTube Channel for a video on the completed unit and mating it to the Race Car.

Total carried over – $4158.24

Axle Studs – $31.96

Axles – $284.05
