Since all appears ok with block and head (more than ok with 1941cc’s!) on to cleaning everything up for assembly. Lots of cleaning/brushing on the block. I then painted on Ospho – a phosphoric acid compound that converts iron oxide to iron phosphate – a hard, dark coating which is inert and tough. Wiped it down again and painted black enamel. With a brush – I prefer a brush on cast surfaces – no masking and no overspray and no brush marks.

Painted with a few items in place.

It will be easy to add more crankcase ventilation if needed. Just add a fitting to either of those block off plates. I also cleaned up and detailed the front cover and water pump.
