Finding a set of Champion wires these days for a 5.0 can be challenging. Yet all of the SSC’s were equipped with them. At the time you could go to a parts store and order a set of they were a champion dealer. Champion batteries were also used.
The Bleakley Ford Impressor cars were also one that could be equipped with the Champion wires. We’re confident this car had them because in the early pics of this car the spark plug wires are red. And at the time the Champion wires were pretty much the only ones made in red as a standard. Ford Motorsport had not made wires in red at that time in 1990. The other thing pointing to them being Champion wires is the list of parts they used to make the Impressor on the sales documentation.
In the picture above you can see the red wires in the engine bay. That’s what this car looked like when it was less than 2 years old.
The above picture is the laundry list of parts installed on a Bleakley Ford Impressor vehicle. Note that the Champion wires are a part of the Stage II option.
Slowly but surely the parts are going back on this car which made it so unique. Next up is interior attacking. It’s going to be a minute on that because we’re going to focus on 1989 #50 for several weeks.
